Not unlike Saint-Denis and Saint-Martin, the architecture of Saint-Barthélemy reflects the fact that it once played an important part in the city's defences. It is the oldest religious construction in Liège, the exterior dating back to the 12th century - the interior was completely changed at the beginning of the 18th century. The church has fantastic bronze baptismal fonts, which date back to 1118 and were originally installed in Notre-Dame-aux-Fonts, a little church joined to Saint-Lambert Cathedral, which was destroyed in 1794 by French revolutionaries. These fonts are an artistic masterpiece of plate.
Reception of the collegiate church from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm and from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.
The collegiate church as well as the baptismal fonts are accessible for disabled persons.
